Judo Mats in India: Modern Judo Styles

Judo was incepted in Japan in the year 1882. It is a physical, mental, as well as moral practice. It was incepted by Jigoro Kano.
Judo is basically a form of modern martial arts. In years, it has evolved into a combat and an Olympic sport. It requires the use of judo mats.

Modern Judo Styles
The most popular style is, of course, Kodokan judo developed by Kano Jigoro but there are several other styles too.
Kosen judo
It is a separate style of judo. It became popular in the early 20th century. The major hype occurred when it was used in the Japanese Special High Schools Championships. It is quite popular and somewhat similar to Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
Russian judo
Russian judo is another popular judo style. It is somewhat inspired by Sambo, the Russian martial arts.

It would not be wrong to say that Russian judo has also inspired the original Kodokan judo. Several techniques like flying armbar that are common in Kodokan judo are adopted from the Russian judo.
                       
Sambo
Sambo is a combination of different international, as well as Soviet bloc wrestling styles with a dash of other popular combative techniques. It is a popular style of judo.
Brazilian jiu-jitsu
Brazilian jiu-jitsu is basically a freestyle judo. It is mainly practiced in the United States of America.
Use of Judo Mats in India
Judo is a combat sport and so there are always chances of injuries. Judokas often fall during the matches and receive injuries. To prevent the injuries, judo mats are used.
The judo mats are excellent shock absorbers and hence, reduce the intensity of falls and injuries.
